![]() March 14th for most people is just another day of the week. For math junkies, however, this is the day to celebrate one of the most popular, loved and fascinating number in mathematics, pi or π. The number is a mathematical constant: 3.14159265358979323846264338327950288 and it doesn't end there; that's why it's called a constant. It goes on and on with no repeats and no sequences. This number has been known and used throughout history by the Egyptians and Babylonians, but no one really knows its origin. When you divide a circle's circumference by its diameter, you get the number that is represented by the Greek letter pi. As being a school focused on Math, we also celebrated with “TMSA’s 2nd Annual Pi-Day” last Monday, March 15th. It was for 4-8 graders. There were several activities such as a Pie Eating Contest, Memorizing Pi Digits Contest, Quiz Bowl, and Pi-Day Project Contest. Each and every contest was very competitive and students had lots of fun. In the future we will increase the number of Pi-Day activities. We would like to thank Mr.Tekten, Mr. Andrew, and Mr. Lukman for their efforts to make the stage ready before our celebration. We also would like to thank all of our teachers for their time. Our Pi-Day winners are: Quiz Bowl: Luke McKinney, Reem Ahmed, Addison Adams Pi-digit Contest: Islam Hassan Pie Eating Contest: Tendai Parker Pi Project: Islam Hassan Mr. Gunes & Mr. Kanmaz, Math Teachers
