Washington, D.C. hosted the Second Annual Turkish Olympiad on Sunday, April 11th at Langley High School. There were 65 finalists from six states who competed in 4 categories including Singing, Poetry, Talent, and Folklore.

Our TMSA Turkish Olympiad Team stood out from the rest bringing home a record number of medals. I would like to thank to our team’s members, our coaches, and the parents who contributed to this competition. Your support was greatly appreciated.

Here are the results:

  • Taking 1st  place singing the Turkish National Anthem was Myriam Oumaru.
  • In the Singing category Gabrielle Harris took the gold medal. Rick Djikpor brought home the silver and Shawn Logan finished the TMSA sweep by taking the bronze.
  • Justin Logan won the gold medal in the Poetry category.
  • And finally, The TMSA Folk Dancers: Victoria Gault, Kristen Hollingsworth, Alanna Johnson, Kamryn Powell, & Alliyah Watson captured the gold medal in the Folk Dance Competition.
