Foreign language classes are offered starting from the 4th grade. TMSA currently offers two foreign languages, Spanish and Turkish. Foreign language classes help our students to appreciate the diversity of our world. TMSA students have the opportunity to learn to speak the language while also gaining the concepts of the cultures. WHY TURKISH? • It is one of the 10 critical languages identified by US Government. • Turkish Language is the gateway to the fifth mostly spoken language family just after Chinese, English, Hindi, Spanish, and Arabic. • It’s going to be your tool to explore a centuries old society of wonderful lands and people of many colors and beliefs. • Is the cradle of civilizations for Hittites, Romans, Greeks, Persians, Byzantiums, Seljukids, Ottomans, and the mosaic of cultures of different nations like Turks, Greeks, Arabs, Persians, Armenians, and other Caucasian nations. • Turkey's liberal, political and intellectual climate bridging East and West, traditional and modern, is a comforting environment. • Business partnerships with Turkey and the USA are steadily growing, creating an ever increasing demand for educated Americans fluent in Turkish and with knowledge and understanding of both cultures. • Is uniquely positioned between Europe and Asia geographically, culturally and politically. • Has the highest economical growth in recent years along with China and has a flourishing market that can extent its potential to Europe and Central Asia. • Provides a medium of rich archives for researchers specialized in Political Science, and History. • Is one of the best open air museums in the World for Archeologists to explore places like Ephesus, Halicarnasus, Noah’s Ark, and city of Troy. • Learning Turkish gives access to many new opportunities for business, scientific and technological research, and for scholarship and journalism. • Currently, students in Turkey are learning English at a record rate, while only few Americans learn Turkish: to offset this imbalance of skill and opportunity, there is great need for Americans to meet the creative challenge of learning Turkish.
