The First Lego League Team, The Black Knights, had a camp program in Washington DC during the winter break.  The four days program started on Tuesday, Dec. 29th in the morning and ended on Friday, January 1st night.

Camp is a time to study but also a reward to the team for their good effort.  During the program, the team had a chance to visit some Smithsonian Museums and some sightseeing places, and had a New Year Eve house party!

The team worked on some missions and on their project. They tried to write the most accurate and fastest programs to achieve their missions. They also built some additional attachments which are required to accomplish some missions. They continued to work on their project and its presentation.

It is worthwhile to see some of the millions of plants, animals, fossils, minerals, rocks, meteorites, and human cultural artifacts in The National Museum of Natural History’s collections. However, the team had their best time in The National Air and Space Museum.  Besides seeing the largest collection of historic aircraft and spacecraft in the world, riding interactive flight simulators was so much fun. We didn’t forget to stop by and get a picture in very well known places; the White House, Washington Monument and Capitol Building.

We also had a New Year Eve house party and had some guests, The Kim family. While we were enjoying our snacks and drinks provided by The Kim family, we played some card games and watched the ball drop in the countdown to 2010 in New York City Times Square on TV.

It was so nice visiting the nation’s best museums, seeing the most famous places of D.C., trying different food in a local restaurant and having a good time with friends but at the end of the four days, we were ready to return to our sweet homes.

Great thanks go to our chaperones, Mrs. Welborn and Mr. Kanmaz for all their help. I, also, would like to express thanks to The Kim family for their involvement and for the refreshments they provided.
