Experience and research from all over the United States show that the interaction with the student's family at their home is a very effective way to help student's academic and behavioral progress. Home visits improve the communication between student, parent, and teacher which in return contributes to student success.
We started home visits in early August 2008, before the first day of school. Home visits are very effective in community building. Our TMSA family gets stronger with the home visits.
From all the positive feedback we've received for this program, we would like to continue and increase the number of visits. TMSA teachers may contact you to schedule a home visit. You can also contact your child's teachers and invite them for a home visit. This program is voluntary and it is not a requirement for the teachers or the parents.
What is a home visit?
Home visits can be on weekdays after school or on the weekend. Depending on our teachers' availability at least two teachers will come for the home visit. During the home visit, both parties get to know each other in a casual environment. A family picture with the teachers will be taken, with the consent of parents, to put on our website.
