College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC)

Students need to create a CFNC.org account. Here you will find a wealth of resources and information regarding applying and paying for college. October is now named NC Countdown to College. Activities during the month support high school seniors in completing three important college enrollment steps: residency, FAFSA, and applications. College Application Week will take place October 21 – 25th. During this week, some colleges offer application fee waiver opportunities.

Upcoming Events:

Friday, September 20th: 11:15 - 11: 45am (Guilford College): 

Kyle Wooden, Director of Admissions at Guilford College, will be at TMSA to give an undergraduate admissions presentation to all juniors and seniors. Attendance is mandatory for juniors and seniors if they are on campus. The presentation will be held in the TMSA Auditorium.

Tuesday, September 24th: 6 - 6:45pm (Financial Aid Night): 

There will be an information session regarding Financial Aid for seniors in collaboration with Greensboro College. All parents and seniors are encouraged to attend. The session will be held in the TMSA Auditorium.

Tuesday, October 1st - 12:40p (U.S. Army):

Sgt. Wilson, U.S. Army Recruiter, will have a table out during lunch to provide interested students with more information about joining the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves. High school students are encouraged to stop by!

Monday, October 14th - 12:40p (UNCG): 

Tatiana MacAneney, Admissions Counselor at UNCG, will have a table out during lunch to provide interested students with information about UNCG. High school students are encouraged to stop by!

Thursday, October 17th: 12pm (Campbell University): 

Kelsey McGaha, Senior Admissions Counselor at Campbell University, will be at TMSA to give an undergraduate admissions presentation to all juniors and seniors. Attendance is mandatory for juniors and seniors if they are on campus. The presentation will be held in the TMSA Auditorium. Kelsey will also have a table out during the high school lunch blocks with general information about Campbell University.

Tuesday, October 29th: 11-11:40am (Elon University)

Courtney Vaughn, Director of Diversity Recruitment at Elon University, will be at TMSA to give an undergraduate admissions presentation to all juniors and seniors. Attendance is mandatory for juniors and seniors if they are on campus. The presentation will be held in the TMSA Auditorium.

College Exploration Opportunities:

  1. WFU College LAUNCH for Leadership

The College LAUNCH for Leadership Program provides high school juniors who identify as historically underrepresented students in higher education (e.g. racial/ethnic minorities, low-income, first-generation, undocumented immigrants, etc.) a unique opportunity to explore their interests in social justice and community engagement. The all-inclusive day provides prospective students, families and groups an opportunity to tour the campus, ask questions and interact with administrators, faculty, staff and students, to see the amazing things the university has to offer in academics and student support services.

Lenoir Rhyne Teaching Scholars Program:

Lenoir-Rhyne University's Teaching Scholars program provides scholarships of up to $5,500 per year for four years to incoming freshmen. These funds will be offered in addition to the federal, state and Lenoir-Rhyne financial aid for which the student may already be qualified, but cannot be combined to exceed the cost of tuition or combined with other top merit awards. The average LR student eligible for this program receives approximately $16,000 per year in scholarships and grants from the institution. There is no pay-back required for this scholarship through service or otherwise. This award cannot be combined with other programmatic scholarships.
