The Star Readers’ Breakfast
was held on Thursday, September 12th. We had over 40 students to
complete the Star Readers’ Challenge! Congratulations to all of the
Star Readers!
Upcoming Events:
Student Lunch and Learn Workshop
A student workshop titled “How to Make a Personalized Bookmark” is
being held on Wednesday, September 25, 2019. During this workshop
students will create a personalized bookmark. Students are to sign up
for this workshop in advance. This workshop is limited to 15 students.
Parent Literacy Workshop
A free parent literacy workshop will be offered at TMSA on Thursday,
September 26, 2019 from 6:00p.m. – 7:00p.m. During this workshop
parents will learn practical and everyday activities that they can do at
home with their student to help them succeed in literacy.
Family Literacy Night- Tuesday, October 15, 2019
The Family Literacy Night will be held at TMSA on Tuesday, October 15th
from 6:00p.m. – 7:30p.m. Family Literacy Night will coincide with our
Scholastic Book Fair. The theme of the literacy night will be book
characters. We will have a book character costume contest.
Scholastic Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair will be held at TMSA during the week of
Monday, October 14th through Friday October 18th, 2019. Students will
be able to purchase books during their scheduled class visit. Parents
are welcome to shop the book fair during our Family Literacy Night.
LIBRARY PROGRAMS
STAR READERS LIBRARY PROGRAM
Students who complete 7 individual reading response forms will be
entered into a drawing for prizes each month. Students who complete a
Star Readers’ packet will be eligible to attend a Star Readers’
Celebration. Reading response forms and packets are located in the rack
at the library’s front door entrance.
Library Use at Lunch
Students may come to the library during lunch. Students should eat
their lunch prior to coming to the library. To come, students can get a
pass from the person in charge of lunch. I will have library passes in
the cafeteria. Passes are limited to the first 15 people who request
them daily per lunch period. Students coming during lunch may read or
check out books, use the computers to work on school work or play board
games.
