2 Triad Update Jan 11

Dear TMSA Parents and Guardians,

Here are your weekly updates for the week of January 11th, 2021:

(1) This Tuesday, January 12th at 6:30pm, the Middle School and High School will be hosting a virtual information night for NEW applicants and their families who are interested in applying for the 21-22 school year. Please share this news with anyone who is interested in applying for next year.

(2) Applications for the 21-22 school year are available for NEW students in grades K-12. If you have other children that you would like to enroll for the next school year, or have any friends and family members who would like to apply, or for additional information, please go to our website, or use the link below. The deadline to apply is February 14th and the public lottery will be held on the 15th. For more information, visit www.tmsacharter.org/admissions

(3) Attention 7th grade parents: If you have not submitted your student's vaccination records, please remember that the deadline to do so is this Friday, January 15th. Records can be faxed to 336-621-0072 or emailed to Nurse K at kmorlu@tmsacharter.org. Although we remain with virtual learning, this is a state requirement for all school, and to avoid interruption in your student's learning, we must have these for our records.

(4) Attention 11th grade parents and students: On Tuesday, January 26th, 2021, TMSA will administer the PSAT/NMSQT to 11th-grade students. The PSAT/NMSQT is an optional exam for TMSA juniors. It measures verbal reasoning, critical reading, math problem solving, and writing skills important for success in college. Juniors are encouraged to take the PSAT because it identifies National Merit Scholars and enables students who score at the highest levels to qualify for college scholarships. The PSAT can also be used as a predictor for SAT scores. Students who plan on participating in the exam will be required to come to campus and test in-person (face coverings and social distancing protocols will be strictly enforced). Please complete the survey by the close of business tomorrow, indicating your student's plan for participating in this exam administration.

(5) Juniors and Seniors: There will be a FREE online scholarship showcase this Saturday, January 16th at 10am. Join to learn about, and find, scholarships to help you pay for college! Register here

(6) Lastly, there are many platforms on the internet which enable people to leave reviews regarding our schools. Many people who research our schools, prior to completing an application for enrollment, or visiting our schools, will go to these sites to see reviews that parents or staff have posted. If you are so inclined, and believe that we are doing positive things within our school community and are doing our best to make differences in the lives of our students, we invite you to share your experiences. Some of those platforms are outlined with links below to share your comments:

1. Google Reviews: Please just simply google "Triad Math and Science Academy," and you will see our Google descriptions on the right pane. You can click on "write review" to write reviews for our school on Google.

2. GreatSchool.Org

3. Niche.Com

Thank you and have a nice week!
